Symbolism and design:
The central motif of the lace is the Chi-Rho, one of the oldest symbols of Christianity. It is formed by the Greek letters Chi (Χ) and Rho (Ρ), the first letters of “Christós”, and has traditionally been used as a representation of Christ.
The Chi-Rho is embroidered in green and accompanied by delicate botanical motifs forming an ornamental arch above the Christian symbol. Green, traditionally associated in the liturgy with hope and spiritual growth, gives the design a meaningful and harmonious appearance.
The lower section of the lace combines ornamental shapes with white openwork details, adding visual lightness and creating an elegant finish. The combination of white and green gives the altar cloth a refined and luminous appearance suitable for a wide variety of liturgical spaces.
