Symbolism and design:
The central feature of the decoration is the Chi-Rho, one of the oldest symbols of Christianity. It is formed by the Greek letters Chi (Χ) and Rho (Ρ), the first letters of the Greek word “Christós”, and has traditionally been used as a representation of Christ.
Above the Chi-Rho, delicate botanical motifs embroidered in white form an ornamental composition that frames the central Christian symbol. The monochromatic design allows the texture and relief of the embroidery to provide depth and visual richness while maintaining an elegant and understated appearance.
The lower section features elaborate openwork detailing with curved ornamental shapes. These open sections contrast with the embroidered areas, adding visual lightness and creating a carefully finished decorative edge.
