The Apostles Ciborium - Karelia Arte Sacra
The The Apostles Ciborium is crafted from nickel-plated brass with a gold-plated interior, combining elegant craftsmanship with profound Christian symbolism. It is designed for the reverent reservation and distribution of consecrated hosts during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
The most remarkable feature of this ciborium is its sculpted base, where the Twelve Apostles are represented in relief around the entire foot, recalling the first disciples of Christ and the apostolic foundations of the Church.
The lid is crowned by the Christian Ichthys fish, one of the oldest symbols of Christianity, representing Jesus Christ and the faith of the early Church.
The Apostolic Foundation of the Church
The relief of the Twelve Apostles surrounding the base symbolizes the unity of the Church gathered around Christ. Together with the Eucharistic vessel they remind us of the Last Supper, the institution of the Eucharist and the apostolic mission entrusted to the disciples.
